Dubai Metro

The Dubai metro system is the lifeline of the city, connecting all the major hubs of the emirate to each other seamlessly. It started its operation in 2009 and since then has become the primary source of daily commute for millions of residents and tourists in the city. It is often regarded as one of the most reliable modes of public transportation in the emirate.

It is owned and managed by the RTA (Road and Transport Authority) and follows a mix of both underground and elevated stations. It plays a crucial role in relieving the motor traffic of the city, giving a respite to the roads. The metro stations are all air-conditioned and feature stunning architecture styled after one of five interior designs - Earth, water, air, fire, and heritage.

Additionally, the government has done an exceptional job in making it as inclusive as possible. All metro stations are wheelchair-friendly and feature tactile guidance paths for the visually impaired. The convenience of using the metro due to its user-friendly mechanism and the distance it covers makes it extremely popular among both residents and tourists.

All you need to do is buy a ticket or recharge your Nol card to board a metro train. Its affordability is also a major reason why it is a top choice for thousands of daily passengers. A single journey ticket on the Dubai metro costs around AED 3 to AED 7.50. You may also use day passes to enjoy unlimited travel on the metro. Available in varied validity forms, you can pick one based on your requirements. There are day passes for a single day, seven days, 30 days, and even 90 days.
